Today Kai and I took a trip to UCLA where her hearing was tested once more. We have been going to UCLA every month to check up on Kai's progress.

Today was a great day! She responded at a low speaking voice/almost whisper. THAT IS REALLY GOOD NEWS. Jeff and I know how much she hears, but for the Dr.'s to see her progress was really great!

She is talking more and more each day and today just confirmed her amazing success.
Thanks for all your continued prayers!

Love Steph and Kai

So, this happened a few weeks ago, but I must post this picture! This is Kai and her cousin Talan in a screaming match. Now, most mothers would say "stop screaming" to their little one...I have a hard time doing that since it is a form of communication after all :) Talan started screaming, Kailee then HEARD it and followed his lead. Kinda cute. It's their new "thing" they do.

So, Jeff and I were curious to count how many words Kailee could say,and how may signs she knows.

We counted 24 words she can say ( more then 10 of them have been post implant) Truly amazing.

She also knows 55 signs that she uses daily.

We are working on both signing and speaking, and I will continue to teach her sign language as long as it doesn't interfere with her speech.
We shall see what happens...
So far, so good!
Have a great weekend!
Thank you to all my girls who have pushed me to start a blog for Kailee:)

Almost 2, Kailee is blooming into a wonderful, loving, strong willed little girl. Born deaf, she has overcome and conquered her disability with attitude! Kailee recently received a cochlear implant and can now hear to almost full capacity. She is just now learning to listen, hear, speak and understand sound. It is a true blessing to watch her learn and grow as she starts understanding her surroundings more and more each day!

I want to use this blog to post new milestones for Kailee as she starts her journey.

This past year and a half has truly been filled with more ups and downs then any parent should ever have to go through. But, with God holding us tight, Jeff and I have learned to TRULY put our trust in him, knowing He has the best plan for her life.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

I thank all of you for your continued prayers over Kailee. Jeff and I could not have been so strong for Kai, if you all weren't so strong for us. THANK YOU!

Until next time....
